Restaurants on the Upper East Side: The Best Restaurants in NYC
Top Picks for Dining on the Upper East Side
We all know just how difficult it can be to find that special spot in New York City that keeps you coming back time and time again. We’ve been lucky enough to find many spots while dining in NYC that we would gladly return to. We’ve already covered our picks for the best Upper West Side restaurants, the following are our top picks for the best restaurants on the Upper East Side.
Upper East Side Pub Food: Jones Wood Foundry
Jones Wood Foundry may fool you a bit when you first dine here. It “falls very much on the safe end of the British-pub-in-NYC spectrum…” Wilfie & Nell it is not. But we enjoyed the food quite a bit at this food driven pub.
What to Eat at Jones Wood Foundry
- Anything from the Toast Menu
- Myers of Keswick Bangers and Mash
- Sticky Toffee Pudding
“Jones Wood Foundry succeeds where so many other Upper East Side restaurants fail, by providing lots of selection, good food, reasonable prices, in a relaxed, neighborhoody, drop-in setting.”
The Best Bar Food at Earl’s Beer and Cheese on the Upper East Side
As far as restaurants on the upper east side go, Earl’s Beer and Cheese is serving up the best bar food in NYC in our opinion. We weren’t expecting this upper east side bar to be so lively, but it seems that the word is out that Earl’s in the place to go for bar food in New York.
Must Haves at Earl’s Beer and Cheese
- Calabro Mozzarella Grilled Cheese
- Asian Rice Gnocchi
For Those with a Sweet Tooth on the Upper East Side: Maison Ladurée
We were a little worried about paying three bucks for one of Maison Ladurée’s macarons, but we can tell you that these two-bite delights are worth it. These macarons are are knee-bucklingly good. This was absolutely a no brainer to be included in our top picks of restaurants on the Upper East Side. Of course, it’s not quite a restaurant, but it’s worth including.
Our Favorites at Maison Ladurée
- Caramel with Salted Butter
The Best Restaurants in NYC: Le Moulin a Café
A lot of our friends swear by Le Moulin a Café. They definitely claim that the casual French food served here makes it one of the best restaurants in NYC. That’s right, not just one of the best restaurants on the Upper East Side, but in all of New York. “French restaurants like Le Moulin is the type of place that every neighborhood wants, and that this Upper East Side neighborhood now has.” Our opinion wasn’t quite as high, but it’s definitely a restaurant we would return to again and again. Our suggestion: stick to the sandwiches, soups and salads.

- Croque Monsieur
- Salad Nicoise

We always tend to put these two delicious Mexican restaurants on the Upper East Side together, because of not only their location but also their level of deliciousness.

- Carne asada burrito with black beans, rice, sour cream, a splatter of the green hot sauce, and, of course, a scoop of guacamole
