The festivities of the Fourth may be over, but trust us when we say, July is just getting started!  With so many people taking summer vacations, this is the perfect month to take advantage of all the fun (and often free!) events the city has to offer. Here’s five we look forward to every year. Cue the fireworks!

Midsummer Night Swing: Nightly through July 9th, 2016

For a few weeks every summer, you have a chance to dance under the stars to some of the city’s best bands and DJ’s at Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Night Swing. The night starts off with an hour long dance lesson (two left feet are perfectly encouraged!), and then as the sun goes down and the stars come up, it’s a free for all on the dance floor. The music and dance genres vary nightly, ranging from swing to salsa, ballroom to disco. It’s the #1 repeat event I most look forward to every summer!

Bastille Day Celebrations: July 1oth, 2016

Where my French fans at?! If Nutella crepes and Breton striped shirts are your jam, then the annual Bastille Day on 60th Street is an essential summer stop, where you’ll get to taste the finest French foods and wines (street food style!), get immersed in the current culture and happenings, and learn how to be French in NYC not just on Bastille Day, but 365 days of your NYC year! Embrace that joie de vivre, New Yorkers!

Children’s Book Celebration at the Queens Museum: July 10th, 2016

We applaud a well orchestrated event where the main goal is to get children (and their parents!) excited about reading. The Queens Museum is hosting their annual free Children’s Book Celebration, which will include famous children’s books authors and illustrators, book swaps for the little ones, craft stations, story times, and even a literary obstacle course! This is not to be missed!

New York certainly has its advantages for staying put during the summer, such as the Vino in the City Wine Tasting hosted on the 27th floor rooftop terrace of Davio’s. This laid back summer soiree will feature unlimited pours of wines from DeLille Cellars of Washington State, a selection of curated appetizers, and live music!  Oh, and let’s not forget those breathtaking NYC views!

Bryant Park Yoga: Every Tuesday and Thursday in July

Yoga in the city averages a $20 entrance fee, so imagine NYC’s delight when Bryant Park opens its lawn and terrace up every summer for free yoga classes, mat included! There’s really nothing quite like assuming the downward dog position with hundreds of fellow New Yorkers in the middle of Manhattan, while skyscrapers tower over you. The perfect way to up your fitness this summer, while knocking off an essential item from your NYC bucket list!
