There is no shortage of toddler, preschool, extracurricular, and adult classes in this great big city of ours, but when you find a local place that consistently delivers high quality (and fun!) instruction at reasonable prices, well… you're in luck.

Take The Art Center, which has been a centerpiece of the Upper East Side for almost twenty years now. They offer an appealing variety of classes, in many different mediums, for everyone from the "Mommy (or Daddy!) and Me" on through to adults of all experience and ability.

Spring Semester Classes at The Art Center

The Spring semester at The Art Center begins the first week of February, and they are currently accepting registrations online and in person. There are lots of toddler spots to choose from on weekday mornings, as well as classes in the afternoon for everyone from preschoolers (general art fun led by the terrific Maxine Stadnik) to grade- and high-schoolers. Among these choices for older kids:

  • Fashion Design
  • Ceramics
  • Manga & Cartooning
  • Teen Portfolio Workshop

Plus, if you register before January 31st, or for multiple classes, you will receive a 10% discount!

Adult Art Classes and Special Occassions

And The Art Center's adult classes are great for those of us who are looking for a little bit of structure, support, camaraderie, and guidance to help realize our creative desires. Plus, it helps to have a pleasant, dedicated space in which to bring your ideas to life, rather than, say, the corner of your bedroom. The Art Center also hosts all-inclusive birthday parties; offers special, all-day classes when schools are closed; and has a full slate of summer programs.
