Since World Vegetarian Day is right around the corner (October 1st!), we figured it was the perfect time to feature one of our favorite vegetarian restaurants in NYC: by CHLOE. You know, in case you should feel the need to go out and celebrate your lifestyle choice (for the veggies), or just have a really delicious Meatless Monday meal out (for the carnies.)

By Chloe is actually a 100% vegan restaurant (meaning along with no meat, no dairy products, either), so you can be confident that what you are putting into your body is not only locally sourced and made in the restaurant daily, but also really, really good for you. The restaurant is also certified Kosher, another plus for many New Yorkers to check off their list!

The decor of the restaurant is fun and chic, giving off a bit of a Palm Springs vibe, with it’s communal table filled with plants, funky wallpaper and hanging swing (such a lovely touch!) The presentation of the food is casual, which makes it just as perfect to go to after yoga class as it does as a fun date spot with the favorite veggie in your life. But what keeps us coming back is the all the great: the great food, the great for you food, and the great prices!

What To Order

While you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu (trust us, we’ve tried it all!), here’s a run down of our very favorites. To start, we suggest the Peanutty Kale salad, featuring raw kale, red onion, crushed peanuts, and spicy peanut sauce. Not only is it gluten free (should this matter to you), but it’s an eccentric take on the traditional kale salad (read: a million times better!), which we love.

For your main, try the Avocado Pesto Pasta, which is avocado-cashew pesto, grape tomatoes, fresh basil, and almond parm. A testament that sometimes simple food can be the best food.

Finally, wash your meal down with one of Chloe’s cold pressed juices, specifically the Howl. You’ll get loads of pineapple, apple, lemon, ginger, and cayenne pepper…it gives your throat a little tingle and piles in your daily fruit dose in one shot!

And we can’t forget to mention Chloe’s delicious treats for your favorite furry friend…my chihuahua was the hugest fan of Chole’s pupcakes, and with the clean ingredient list, I could feel good about letting him eat them.
