For the Culture Lovers: A Night At Lincoln Center

Ahh, Lincoln Center! Home to the greatest opera, ballet, and music the world ever did see. It’s the perfect excuse to throw on a button down and cocktail dress (or if you’re feeling REALLY festive go on and dig out that wedding tux and gown from the back of your closet…it’s NYC, anything goes!) And the best part? While attending any performance at Lincoln Center feels incredibly luxe and special (because it is!), it doesn’t necessarily have to cost you a month’s worth of groceries for one night out. If you are looking for discounted tickets, we got you covered.

For the Foodies: A Tasting Menu Dinner At Jean-Georges

The tasting menu at Jean-Georges left such a fabulous impression on me that I recommend it to anyone looking for a special night out, Upper West Side or not! Only, you Upper West Siders have the added benefit of being able to get home even quicker after the meal to fall into the most delicious food induced coma you’ve ever experienced. So what makes Jean-Georges so special? Besides the obvious (the food), the rest of the evening is a tour de force of perfection–from the service, to the ability to adapt to any food restrictions for an entire tasting menu, to the wine pairings, to the dessert, to the ambiance (white linens, candlelight, views of Central Park)–it’s all top-notch, 110% worth every single penny.

For the Adventurous: A Grown-Ups Only Sleepover At The American Museum Of Natural History

A night at the museum, without kids, crowds, and tourists? Sign us up! The American Museum of Natural History hosts grown-up only sleepovers, which features a champagne reception and live jazz, dinner buffet with wine and beer, a midnight snack, breakfast, and of course the ability to roam the museum all night long–and then snuggle into your sleeping bag under the giant blue whale when you’re finally ready to doze off.

For the Vegetarians: A Meatless Monday Tasting Menu At Dovetail

Vegetarians, delight! Dovetail, already an outstanding restaurant on its own, now offers a vegetarian tasting menu every Monday evening (and a “vegetable focused” menu for your dining partner, who may not share your same love of only vegetables.)  The dishes are unbelievably savory and flavorful, and it’s a true treat for any vegetarian to experience (as there’s many restaurants where the veggie options pale in comparison, to say the least.)  And a giant plus?  The menu changes monthly and for popular holidays (with the in-season produce), so every time you go it’s a new experience.

For the Concert and Comedy Goers: A Show At Beacon Theatre

Another reason why UWS residents never have to leave their hood! Forget going downtown for big name concerts and comedy shows, they come right to you at the Beacon Theatre! With names such as Alice and Chains to Ingrid Michaelson, the Beacon hosts a variety of sounds and shows for everyone. Orchestra seats can go at a premium, but for a special night out, it’s totally worth it.  Plus, just think of all the money you’ll be saving in cab fare.

What’s your favorite fancy date spot in the UWS?  Let’s chat about it on Twitter and Facebook!
