Things To Do In July
Welcome to July! With the touch-and-go spring weather behind us and the dog days of summer awaiting us in August, July is arguably the most beautiful month for being outdoors in NYC. Not only is it a stream of constant sunshine, but the city sure does know how to throw fabulous outdoor events! Below, we’ve rounded up five things to do this month, all taking place under the Big Apple sun. Enjoy!
Midsummer Night Swing: July 3rd – 14th, 2018
Midsummer Night Swing is a NYC institution! Taking place every July at Damrosch Park at Lincoln Center, you can go expecting a Big-band dance party, kicked off by a dance lesson in whatever form they are celebrating that evening (popular ones being swing, tango, salsa, ballroom, western, etc.), followed by a live band performance or DJ, where everyone is encouraged to get on the dance floor and showcase their new moves!
Tickets go for $17 in advance, or $20 at the door. Or, if you are really into dancing under the stars, consider purchasing an all season pass, which is $170 and gets you two admissions per night. You can enjoy food trucks and an on-site bar throughout the evening. Just leave all the big bags at home, as there’s a no-bags-allowed policy on the dance floor. Glenwood Westside residents living at The Encore are located right around the corner from this fun Lincoln Center event!

Free Summer Concerts At MOMA: July 8th – 29th, 2018
Midtown East residents will be pleased to partake in the Museum of Modern Art’s series of free summer concerts, taking place in the garden of the museum. Every Sunday at 8pm, you’ll be able to enjoy live jazz and classical music among the beautiful sculptures and water structures in the garden. Just be sure to arrive early to secure your spot, as there is limited seating.
Broadway In The Park: July 12th – August 16th, 2018
Broadway fans, delight! Broadway in Bryant Park is returning for yet another season. This annual free event showcases musical numbers from Broadway’s biggest hits with Broadway’s biggest at actors and actresses every Thursday at 12:30pm, which is the perfect way to spend your lunch hour if you work in Midtown. While the lawn does get quite crowded, this is an event you’ll still be able to fully enjoy even if you’re all the way in the back, and they have an excellent sound system so no seat is a bad seat.
French Street Fair: July 15th, 2018
In honor of Bastille Day, which takes place yearly on July 15th, the Upper East Side will be hosting a French Street Fair from 12pm to 5pm. Expect all kinds of delicious French specialties, such as crêpes, éclairs, French wine and cheese. Live entertainment will be aplenty, with mimes and cancan dancers. There will be a Kids’ Corner for the littlest New Yorkers to enjoy the fun, too. The free fair will take place on East 60th Street, from Lexington Avenue to 5th Avenue, great for Uptown residents at The Somerset.
