Great Mexican Food in New York

Authentic Tacos In New York Are Always In Demand

Authentic mexican food in New York City may not be the rare find it was a decade or so ago, but still: first-rate tacos, in the soft flour tortillas, with freshly-made ingredients, for around three or four bucks each? Especially authentic fish tacos in New York? That’s news worth spreading around.

Pinche Taqueria

Pinche Taqueria New York serves up some of the best mexican street food in lower Manhattan, with lively storefronts a few blocks from each other in Noho and Nolita. Everything about Pinche Taqueria is a blast, from the music to the more-is-more goofy decor to the cheap beverage program (Jarritos and Boing! sodas; cervezas como Tecate, Negro Modelo and Coronitas) to the good-looking, laid-back crowd that spills out into the street long into the night.

It’s All About The Authentic New York Tacos, Let’s Face It

Pinche Taqueria New York has been a quick-bite favorite of ours for a while now, and though the menu does have mexican food staples such as quesadillas, tostadas, burritos and the like, for us, it’s all about the tacos here. The Taco de Pescador, or fish taco, is one of the best we’ve ever eaten east of San Diego: the fish is fat and juicy and lightly battered, and the pile of sweet cabbage adds a nice crunch. Also excellent is the Taco de Carne Asada, stuffed with marinated, charbroiled steak and topped with a generous, fiery slather of a guacamole/salsa combination. And sometimes we mix it up Taco Carnitas (braised pork), and / or the Taco Camaron, stuffed with plump, sweet shrimp.
