DUMBO Arts Festival: Fun Walk-Around-in-the-Sun Alert, This Weekend!

The always-a-blast DUMBO Arts Festival has been transforming the cobblestoned streets of this Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass community into an excellent art party for about a dozen years now. If you've been before (all photos on this page are from past Festivals), you know how much fun it is to wander around this beautiful old neighborhood and chat with the artists and marvel at the spectacles and listen and laugh and gawk at the people and the spectacular view and run into friends and eat lots of snacks. Especially, of course, if the weather cooperates, which, at least on Saturday, appears likely this weekend.

The DUMBO Arts Festival, version 2010, is bigger than ever, with tons of free music, open studios, outdoor art, dance and performance pieces going on all over the place, panels and workshops and an all-weekend-long Digital Summit at St. Ann's Warehouse. There are prizes this year, too, for Best Public Art Installation, indoors and out, and Best Open Studio. Bonus: a terrific excuse to check out the newish, right next-door, lush and landscaped Pier 1 Brooklyn Bridge Park. All in all, a total win. See you there.
