JumpIn: The Enormous Ball Pit For Adults That’s Coming To Soho!

How are you going to celebrate the end of the silly season–aka summer–this year? Like, before fall's full slate of serious culture offerings really kicks in sometime towards the end of September? Eating enormous amounts of the city's best ice cream is always an excellent activity, and screaming on a few rides (and checking out the Art Walls and snacks at Smorgasburg) at Coney Island is also a summertime must if you haven't already gone. But here's another idea, and it could be the most ridiculous one of all: there's a giant ball pit, designed with adults in mind, coming to Soho on August 21, and it's open to the public, one month only, by reservation only, through September 21. The best part: there are still a few slots left on multiple days, so be sure to click through immediately if it sounds at all appealing to play in a pit with EIGHTY ONE THOUSAND white plastic balls.

Introducing JumpIn! –  The Ball Pit For Adults

The ball pit is called JumpIn, and it's hosted by the creative agency Pearlfisher, who did the same thing in their London office last year much to the delight of thousands of grown up men and women. Pearlfisher of course touts the more serious side of the carnival-like room, calling JumpIn an "interactive art installation promoting the transformative power of play," and pointing to numerous studies that show how tapping into our playful side is one of the keys to success. And, more important, happiness. You can read Pearlfisher's pitch for more play here, and it's smart and probably true, but if you're like me you don't really need much convincing to take a break from your day to spend half an hour doing something slightly stupid and completely fun

Here's how JumpIn Works

1. Make your reservation now, here. Slots are going fast, so I suggest you take action right this minute.

2. Show up to Pearlfisher's Soho office at 455 Broadway at the appointed time. Groups of friends are encouraged!

3. That's it! Go nuts for 30 minutes in a room-sized pit filled with 81,000 white plastic balls.

4. Needless to say, this is an eminently Instragrammable activity.
