The Armory Show

Taking place in NYC every spring since 1994, The Armory Show is a premier art fair and a leading cultural destination for discovering and collecting the world’s most important 20th and 21st century art. The show will feature art from over 200 leading international galleries, as well as artist commissions and public programming. For anyone who appreciates art, the annual Armory Show is an unmissable event, attracting over 65,000 visitors every year!

Since it will be taking place on Piers 92 & 94 in the Westside of Manhattan, it’s an ideal event for any Glenwood residents living in The Encore or The Regent buildings – just a short walk or bike ride away! Tickets can be purchased on The Armory Show’s website. If you’re just testing the waters with Art Fairs, a great option for you could be the ‘Happy Hour’ ticket for only $25. It allows you entry to the fair from 5pm to 8pm on Thursday or Friday evenings. A perfect way to get your feet wet in the world of art!

Of course, if you live and breathe artistic delights, the $80 multiple day admission ticket is right up your alley! Check out the following dates:

The Affordable Art Fair

One of the biggest turn offs to many people is just how expensive art can be! Especially if you’re not an expert in the field, throwing down a huge sum of money for a small canvas can seem risky. And for this, we have The Affordable Art Fair at The Metropolitan Pavilion.

Held annually in 10 cities around the world, including New York of course, each fair is filled with a creative collection of artist performances, innovative talks and tours, hands-on workshops, kids’s activities, live music, and irresistible restaurants and bars. Not only does this ensemble make for a fun day out with your family and friends but it’s also the perfect place to pick up a new piece of art (or three!) to grace the walls of your Glenwood apartment.

Please note that affordable does not mean cheap! While some pieces are as low as $25, most range from a few hundred, to several thousand dollars. Here are the event dates:

  • Thursday, March 22nd, 11am-6pm (Art After Dark runs from 6pm-9pm)
  • Friday, March 23rd, 11am-6pm (Free Admission from 6pm-8pm)
  • Saturday, March 24th, 11am-8pm
  • Sunday, March 25th, 11am-5pm

Frieze New York brings together the world’s leading modern and contemporary art galleries, including a celebrated series of talks and food from the city’s most talked about restaurants, all taking place at Randall’s Island Park.

One thing we really love about the Frieze art fair is the wide variety of tours they have on offer. From the Emerging Artists Tour to the Contemporary Icons Tour to the Highlights Tour, there’s really something for all levels. Plus, we think that getting the info from a spirited tour guide can be a great way to not only have a fun day out in the NYC springtime sun, but also a wonderful way to learn something new. Who knows? You may even strike up a new hobby!

The art fair is taking place on Randall’s Island Park, which is just a short walk for Glenwood residents living in the Hampton Court building, on the following dates:
