We know that brunching is a full-time weekend job in New York City. Besides the fact we live in one of the (best) food capitals of the world, there will always be a new Bloody Mary and mimosa to try! As 2016 comes to an end and 2017 is just days away, here are a few of New Year’s Day brunch spots to rejuvenate yourself form the night before and welcome the year with a good friends, great good, and the best drinks!

Candle 79

Go for: All the healthy food

If you plan on actually sticking to your healthy eating resolution in 2017, there’s no better spot to grab brunch than the Upper East Side’s organic vegan restaurant, Candle 79.

Featuring seasonal farm-to-table dishes such as Mixed Grain Waffles with bananas, candied pecans, strawberry butter, and gingered maple syrup, as well as Tempeh Vegetable Mole Enchiladas with red & poblano peppers, tomatoes, mole sauce, tofu sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, mesclun, and radish & pumpkin seed salad, you’ll feel really good as you indulge.

And for $32, you can grab the prix-fixe option, which gives you either an alcoholic beverage or fresh juice or smoothie with your meal.

Go for: DIY Bloody Mary bar

This Lower East Side spot has quickly been moved up the ladder on our list of all-time favorite restaurants in NYC. Saxon + Parole‘s vibe is rustic and chill, the food is unbelievable, the cocktails are crafted with love, and lucky for you, they will be open on New Year’s Day for brunch! Jump all over a grilled hanger stake or french toast stuffed with house made Nutella. Can you beat that? Wash it all down with an expertly crafted cocktail, or try your own hand at bartending with their DIY Bloody Mary Bar ($13 for one).

Go for: A good deal

Just because January 1st is a holiday doesn’t mean you need to spend a ridiculous sum of money (especially if “being good with my finances” is high on your 2017 resolution list!)

That’s why we love the American whiskey bar Maysville’s $25 brunch bargain. You’ll get your choice of two courses—like butter-poached shrimp with Andouille sausage – and a drink at this Southern-inspired spot. You can also keep New Year’s Day traditions strong, since they will serve free black-eyed peas and cabbage to brunch-goers, as well as a $7 hair-of-the-dog Sazerac all day long.

Dovetail

Go for: Unlimited champagne

Dovetail is a favorite fine dining spot on the Upper West Side (their Meatless Monday menu is divine), so their annual New Year’s Day brunch is legendary. You’ll start and end the celebration of welcoming 2017 with unlimited champagne while enjoying a three-course fix: Your choice of…

Canapés (caviar croquante, truffle arancini)

Entrée (melted-leek frittata with taleggio fondue, seared halibut with sage-smashed parsnip)

Dessert (cream-cheese panna cotta, pineapple sticky toffee pudding)

All of this for $72 at a restaurant who consistently wins Michelin Guide star since 2011? We’ll see you there on January 1st!

Go for: The live jazz

If a side of entertainment with your brunch is a MUST, we can’t think of a better spot to make a reservation than Michelin-starred chef Eduard Frauneder’s Noho restaurant Freud.

Sip back for a live jazz brunch starting at noon on New Year’s Day. You’ll be able to enjoy brunch classics such as buttermilk pancakes with whipped sour cream and eggs every which way. Along with the dishes, enjoy $10 brunch cocktails such as Sigmund’s Spritz…which, with a little creativity, can lend itself to some fabulous Instagram captions.
