Celebrating Cider Week NYC

If you’ve been ready for fall since the first cool gust of wind blew through New York City streets, this post is just for you. Besides warming up with pumpkin spice lattes and falling for apple flavored treats, taste ciders from local New York cideries at Cider Week!

From October 21st through October 30th, 2016, the 6th annual Cider Week will be taking over the city’s top restaurants, bars, and retail shops. This means everything cider, all of the time. You’ll With over 25 cider makers producing over 1 million gallons of cider, you’ll have your hands full of hot and hard cider to enjoy this season!

Here’s a full lineup of Cider Week’s tastings and events, but we went ahead and picked the five events we’re most looking forward to. Bundle up with your chunky scarf and cheers to cider!

Cider and Pizza Night

New Yorkers love their pizza, which is why Taproom 307 insists on pairing pizza with fresh cider for big flavor. For a ticket price of $24, you’ll get 4 ciders and a pizza with different toppings on each slice.

When: Friday, October 21st at 5pm

Where: Taproom 307 on 307 Third Avenue

Lower East Cider Fest

The second annual Lower East Cider Fest showcases cideries from across New York State, branching from the Hudson Valley to the Finger Lakes, Western New York to right here in New York City. The event is free to attend and includes plenty of tastings, cider making demonstrations, and delicious dishes from local restaurants. As a 21 and over event, you can pick up wristbands at the following locations listed below.

When: Sunday, October 23rd from 12pm to 4pm

Where: Grab your wristbands at Orchard and Houston Street, Orchard and Delancey Street, and in front of Wassail (162 Orchard Street)

Meet the Maker Happy Hour

Steve Selin from South Hill Cider will be pouring 3 signature ciders from his cidery in Ithaca, New York. Indulge in cheese pairings and small seasonal bites as Steve enlightens the crowd with his cider knowledge. If you have more than 4 in your party, call Murray’s Cheese Bar ahead and make a reservation to guarantee entry!

When: Tuesday, October 25th from 5pm to 7pm

Where: Murray’s Cheese Bar on 264 Bleecker Street

Cider and Chocolate Pairing

Just like pizza and cider, chocolate and cider is another duo to get behind! The Raaka Chocolate Factory will be partnering up with New York cider maker Descendant Cider Company for an evening of sweet autumn treats. Along with cheeses and small snacks, you’ll be able to taste five ciders with complimentary chocolates – all of which are handmade.

When: Wednesday, October 26th from 7pm to 10pm

Where: Raaka Chocolate Factory on 64 Seabring Street in Brooklyn

‘So You Want To Start Your Own Cidery?’ Talk

Join Seth Jones, the cider extraordinaire, for a talk and tasting on how he became obsessed with apples and their delicious cider. Sip sweet or dry ciders as Seth discusses getting his cidery license and tasting sweet success with his Ithaca cidery, East Hollow Cider.  Join the discussion at Wassail where tickets are $25 each.

When: Saturday, October 29th at 6pm

Where: Wassail on 162 Orchard Street
