The Orchid Show: Thailand

New York Botanical Garden’s 15th annual Orchid Show is definitely a one-of-a-kind experience. This year’s exhibition transports you to the lush tropical gardens of Thailand.   For a day you can trade in the rush and rumble of NYC living for the peaceful and serene landscapes of a traditional Thai pavilion adorned with hundreds of jaw-dropping orchid arrangements.  discover the unique evolution and survival mechanisms that make orchids some of the most diverse and well-adapted plants on the planet. Macy’s Flower Show Presents Carnival

One week each year over the past thirty years Macy’s Herald Square department store transforms itself from destination for clothing and accessories to a lush landscape of spectacular, bright floral gardens. That time has come again! From March 26th until April 9th the carnival is coming to Macy’s. Plan your visit easily through the interactive map on the website. (Trust us, there’s PLENTY to do.)  Whether its learning about edible floral cakes or flower show family day – no one will leave disappointed. Make your visit even more worthwhile with the special Macy’s Flower Show Shopping Package, available at the Visitor Center for only $50.

After months of planning, the 30th annual Garden & Flower Show will be held at Hudson Valley Community College from March 24th through the 26th. If you are a garden and flower enthusiast, you’ll definitely want to be among the 12,000-15,000 attendees. See 100 garden and floral exhibits in a 17,000 sq. ft. space, attend workshops plus live flower demonstrations by a lineup of reputable speakers, buy your gardening tools (plants & seeds, equipment, outdoor furniture, spring flowers, etc.) from over 150 vendors, and taste various exquisite wines. Those experienced in floral design can apply to the Floral Design Competition and win ribbons coupled with a year’s worth of bragging rights, if selected for Best of Show and Most Creative; more details here. A General Admission ticket is a mere $12, and a 2-Day pass is $18. The show might not be in the city, but it’s absolutely worth the drive.
