For The Kids Who Love Art Projects: The Craft Studio

If your child is a budding Picasso (or just enjoys the ritual of gluing glitter to everything!), The Craft Studio on the Upper East Side is a fantastic option for some back to school activities. They offer classes in painting, sculpting, design and other crafting skills. Themes range from “Toddler Art” for the littlest ones, to “Tween Fall Party Movie Night”, where they’ll watch a Halloween themed movie and make slime, while munching down on pizza and snacks.

We love that The Craft Studio offers walk-in activities. Starting at $18.95 (which includes the cost of all materials), kiddos can stroll in any time during the week and partake in their Paint and Craft Table activities, featuring:

  • Flower pots
  • Scarves
  • Lamps
  • Seasonal items
  • Edible bites

One more fun thing to know about this spot: even if your kid doesn’t have one artistic bone (or interest!) in their body, they can still benefit from The Craft Studio. You know all those school projects kids have to do from grades Kindergarten through 12th? Well, if you’re tired of doing them all for your little one, send them on over to The Craft Studio, where a Craft Project Assistant who specializes in crafty school projects will be happy to help out!

The best part of both Asphalt Green and The Craft Studio is that they are situated right on the Upper East Side, meaning that if you live in an Upper East Side Glenwood luxury building, you’re in the same neighborhood as them. How’s that for back to school ease and convenience?

For The Kids Who Love To Dance

Whether your kid is 18 months or 18 years, they’re all welcome to the School At Steps! Located on the Upper West Side, classes vary from beginning basics to advanced levels of ballet, tap, jazz, theater dance, hip hop, and modern. End of the year rehearsals are anticipated events for both the students and their parents, where the kids will be able to showcase their newly learned skills (in costume, of course!) It’s worth noting that graduates from School At Steps have gone on to do big things with their dance careers, including starring in Broadway’s Hamilton!

For The Kids Who Love Sports: Asphalt Green

Asphalt Green, located on the Upper East Side, is the perfect spot to sign your child up for after school activities. With a menu of athletic options including soccer, baseball, martial arts, flag football, and swimming, there’ss truly something for everyone! The swimming classes stand out as some of the best in Manhattan, as their indoor pool floors are adjustable and switch from shallow to deep.

Classes for all the sports are broken up into age groups, and hosted either during after school hours or on the weekend. If you’re planning ahead for school breaks, go ahead and schedule your child now for one of their mini-camps, which includes these same sporty activities in a shorter summer camp structure. Camps throughout the school year cover all the breaks that align with NYC Public Schools, including holiday break (end of December through January), February break, and Spring break (which falls in April this year.)

The best part of both Asphalt Green and The Craft Studio is that they are situated right on the Upper East Side, meaning that if you live in an Upper East Side Glenwood luxury building, you’re in the same neighborhood as them. How’s that for back to school ease and convenience?
