March Events in NYC

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

March is well known for coming in like a lion and leaving like a lamb, especially here in New York City. As the days begin to last a little longer and then sun starts to beam a tiny bit brighter, make sure you fill your schedule with fun things to do to which will have you celebrating some of the best March holidays. From lucky four leaf clovers to blooming spring flowers, here’s the best of the best for the month of March, all taking place in your Glenwood neighborhoods.

Annual St. Patrick’s Open Day – March 11th

While the Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is probably the most famous St. Patty’s Day event in NYC, we’re big fans of the Annual St. Patrick’s Day Open Day for people looking for a family friendly event.

Once a year, you have the ability to bring your entire family and enjoy an afternoon of Irish arts and culture – including film, music, and dance performances, as well as samples of 40+ adult and children classes available throughout the season. From learning a few new Irish words to relaxing with a cup of traditional Irish tea, the Open Day has something for all ages. And best of all? It’s completely free! The event starts at noon and lasts until 4pm.

The Irish Arts Center is located on the West Side of Manhattan, making it the perfect place for Glenwood residents living in The Encore to get into the St. Patty’s Day spirit!

A Performance of ‘Frozen’ on March 14th

If you’re looking for a way to support National Women’s Day this year, consider purchasing a ticket to the Broadway musical Frozen for the March 14th performance. The performance that day will benefit The Actors Fund Women’s Health Initiative, which is an organization that addresses the concerns women face when dealing with serious medical conditions. Plus, you’ll be able to enjoy a ticket to the hit Broadway show everyone is talking about!

The performance will take place at 8pm at the St. James Theatre, and tickets for this special evening can be purchased ahead of time here. We can’t think of a better way to spoil that special New York City lady in your life! The show location is perfect for Glenwood residents living at Emerald Green.

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade – March 17th

The New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade is the world’s oldest and largest St. Patrick’s parade, ever. Celebrating Irish culture and the Catholic faith, this parade will be marching from 44th Street to 79th Street along 5th Avenue, making it perfect for both Glenwood Midtown East residents as well as those on the Upper East Side. It sets off at 11am and wraps up officially at 5pm. Deck out in your favorite shades of green and comfortable shoes, and bring your camera!

Macy’s Flower Show – March 25th – April 8th

Every spring, New Yorkers look forward to visiting the beloved Macy’s Herald Square for reasons beyond shopping: to see the annual Macy’s Flower Show. Featuring spectacular flower arrangements from around the world, as well as plenty of scheduled events, the blooms are a perfect way to wile away an afternoon indoors, particularly ones that are being graced with springtime showers. This year’s theme is “Once Upon a Springtime”, and will be on display for two weeks.

Another little bonus? The show is completely free.
