Last Minute Gift Ideas

gift-guide

There are two types of Christmas shoppers: those who pick up items throughout the year, and the folks who rely on Amazon Prime’s one day delivery on December 23rd. If you happen to fall into one group more than the other (no judgement, we promise!), you’ll be delighted to know that NYC is full of places you can score perfect last minute gift. Many of these shops give the added benefit of shopping small – leaving you to feel confident that you supported stores in the community. We’ve rounded up our favorites below!

For the Entertainer: Fishs Eddy

Gift We Love: Wench + Wanker Mugs

Whenever I’m in need of a unique hostess gift, this is hands-down my first stop.

Fishs Eddy is filled with the absolute best serving dishes, plates, tea towels, cake platters, and other reasonably priced entertaining gear. If you have someone on your list who loves to entertain, you can delight them with any number of fun pieces to add to their cabinet collection.

Our holiday hint: They have items that are already boxed and ready to give, so you literally only need to put a bow on the package and you’re good to go!

For the Fashionista: Henri Bendel

Gift We Love: Monogrammed Passport Cover

Henri Bendel is a store I can always find the perfect gift at. From the most delicious candles you ever did smell, to gorgeous jewelry and stunning purses, Bendel’s is a mecca for the girly-girl fashionista type. A monogrammed passport cover is one of my favorite things for two reasons: It’s a glam gift that people wouldn’t normally spend a lot of money on, and it’s a one that can make people think of you and smile as they travel!

Our holiday hint: Henri Bendel offers onsite monogramming and beautiful gift wrapping included with your purchase.

backpacks

For the Outdoorsy Type: Fjall Raven

Gift We Love: Monogrammed Kanken Backpack

If you have someone on your list who takes Metro North to the Catskills every weekend whenever possible, the Soho’s Fjall Raven should be a stop on your shopping spree. They have everything from ridiculously warm sleeping bags to cozy wool sweaters – all of which serve their purpose and look completely stylish.

Our very favorite gift from Fjall is their Kanken backpacks, which are a commuter’s dream and come in different colors and sizes. No matter how much you schlep on the subway with you, the backpack feels really good on your back, and doesn’t induce any pains or strains.

Our holiday hint: The Soho store offers onsite monogramming, making it the perfect personalized gift!

For the Reader: Strand Bookstore

Gift We Love: A Strand tote bag filled with books

For any readers on your gift list, head to Strand. Pick up one of their signature tote bags and stuff it to the brim with books that remind you of special someone. The Strand is particularly amazing as far as bookstores go because they have everything from expensive first editions, a huge selection of dollar books, cute writing journals, and bookish inspired candles and postcards.

Our holiday hint: Strand is currently offering a free holiday tote with a purchase of $50 or more, which basically has your wrapping done for you!

bonds

For the New Yorker at Heart: Bond No. 9

Gift We Love: New York Musk

We’ll assume you have at least one die hard New Yorker on your shopping list. What does one get for someone who loves the Big Apple more than life itself?

Short of an unlimited (forever) Metrocard, the next best thing they probably don’t already have is a gorgeous bottle of Bond No. 9 perfume or cologne. Not only do they look and smell amazing, but all of the scents are inspired by the city itself. From Chinatown to Central Park to Broadway Nite, there’s a scent for everyone.

Our holiday hint: Leave the store with your gift gorgeously wrapped!
