For A Girls’s Night Out

The New York Botanical Garden’s Adult Education series hosts a wide variety of flower arranging courses, but the one that really stood out to us is the Girls’s Night Out Spring Wildflowers class! It’s the perfect way to celebrate spring with your favorite gals: friends, sisters, aunts, grandmothers, or (hint hint), this would make an excellent Mother’s Day activity for you and your mom!

The way the Botanical Garden puts it… One part class, and one part party! The class on Thursday, May 4th includes wine, hors d’oeuvres, and music – all while crafting your very own professional bouquet out of spring blooms. This is a fantastic class for local residents of The Belmont or Paramount Tower!

Price: $129 for members, $139 for non-members

Location: Midtown Center, Room D

20 West 44th Street (between 5th and 6th Avenues)

New York, NY 10036

Another workshop we’re looking forward to is Flower Arranging with Store-Bought Bouquets on Tuesday, May 8th, where you’ll learn how to create your own professional-looking arrangements with economical, store-bought bouquets. This event has a $45 material fee, and registered guests are encouraged to bring pruners and a bag or box to transport arrangements back to your Midtown East apartment.

Arrangement Classes for Peony Lovers

If there’ss a flower arranging class that was meant for me, it’s one with peonies! Avid gardener or not, a lot of people have a few specific types of flowers that are their go-to. From creating a centerpiece for your dining room table, or designing a pot for your outdoor balcony garden, peonies are a great choice to add color to your space.

The Flower School in Chelsea is holding their Open Studio Featuring Peonies on Thursday, May 17th, which allows you to create a beautiful, seasonal arrangement while learning some tips and tricks of floral design. Their classes each have a specific design focus, such as hand tied bouquets or low compact centerpieces, so you’ll walk away having mastered a specific skill! Residents of Glenwood’s Barclay Tower will enjoy the quick 15 minute cab ride for this event.

Can’t get enough fresh blooms? Check out their ongoing Beginner Classes and Mother’s Day arrangement event for a fun day with the women in your life!

You’ll be working with the flowers in a “free style” manner, which infuses your own personality and taste into creating a unique finished product. For our newbie flower arrangers out there, this class is a perfect blend of instruction and education on Japanese culture with flower arrangements. Mix your free style and inspiration!
