Celebrating National Coffee Day (October 1st)

A cup of steaming hot coffee with coffee beans

Most of NYC runs on coffee, so National Coffee Day is a day each and every one of us should celebrate. Whether this means stopping by your go-to cafe for a cup of joe, buying tickets for the upcoming New York Coffee Festival, or treating yourself to a subscription coffee service, we’ve got the complete lineup of ways to enjoy yourself today!

Stop By A New-To-You Coffee Shop

New York is home to what feels like coffeeshops on every corner (Starbucks, we’re looking at you!) We encourage you to branch out today and try a new-to-you coffee shop! There are so many amazing ones, it’s hard to even begin narrowing them down. However, we have found a few standouts for you to try!

The ingredients to make coffee laid out on a table

Bibble & Sip

This spot is perfect if you live or work on the Westside, specifically Midtown West near the Theater District. There’s always a line (and rightly so, their coffee is phenomenal), but it moves quickly. The unique drink to try here is their Lavender Latte. Bonus points: homemade cream puffs come out of the oven everyday at noon, sharp! So consider timing your visit around that.

Ground Central

Located in Midtown East, you’ll want to both order the coffee AND drink the coffee here. The brews are fantastic, and so is the vibe. You will be able to relax in their library themed space while enjoying couches and overstuffed leather chairs, as well as high top tables up front which are perfect for plugging your laptop in and getting a little work banged out! This spot is ideal for Glenwood residents living at The Bristol and The Bamford. We have a feeling it will quickly become your new favorite spot!

Irving Farm Coffee Roasters

There are several locations of Irving Farms around the city, but the Upper East Side location is a fan favorite among Uptowners. Beans are roasted right in New York state, and the spacious cafe gives plenty of room to read a paper or even meet with your book club, featuring minimal industrial vibes. Best of all, residents of The Marlowe are just a block away!

Laughing Man’s Coffee

If you are a fan of Hugh Jackman, try his coffee shop Laughing Man Coffee located in Tribeca. This location is perfect for Glenwood’s downtown residents. Aside from being a trendy coffee shop to stop by, his goal is to give back to the farmers who produce the coffee. Jackman founded Laughing Man’s Coffee in 2011 after a trip to Ethiopia where he met a coffee farmer Dukale. He saw an opportunity to make a great coffee brand that gives back to support the people and communities who produce it!

The New York Coffee Festival is taking place this year on October 11th through 13th right in the heart of NYC, just a short distance away from the Westside residencies Emerald Green and Crystal Green! If you’re a coffee aficionado or industry insider, this is the perfect way to celebrate National Coffee Day because you will be privy to all the latest and greatest buzz!! The festival will include countless coffee tastings, coffee themed music, art, food vendors, plenty of latte art demonstrations, and so much more. Snag your tickets in advance from their website! Click here for tickets. We just might suggest switching to decaf by the time afternoon rolls around.
