2019’s Can’t Miss Halloween Events For Kids
Halloween is approaching and the entire month of October is filled with fun Halloween activities for your kids to enjoy! Today we will dive into the events your kids will be most excited about (and their grownups will enjoy them too.) Get ready to slip on some costumes for festive fun, all of which is happening in close proximity to Glenwood buildings.
Trick-Or-Treat At The American Museum of Natural History
Every October, the American Museum of Natural History on the Westside hosts a special Halloween celebration exclusively for NYC kids. This years festivities will be happening on Saturday, October 26th from 2pm to 6pm. Stop by any time during this slot to enjoy trick-or-treating in costume (all within the museum, so it’s temperature regulated), magic shows, live music, crafts, and appearances from childhood characters such as Curious George, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and Little Critters! Tickets can be purchased on their website, and are $16 per person.

Revel In Dressed Up Dogs
What child does not love dogs…especially ones that are donning Halloween costumes?! Plus, we’re pretty sure this Downtown event is just as amusing for parents as it is their littles…bonus points. On Sunday, October 19th, head to the Fountain Plaza in Washington Square Park to revel in the Dog Halloween Costume Party, in which breeds from all over the city will be prancing about in their Halloween finest! The event lasts from 11am to 3pm, and is free to attend.
Marvel At Jack-O-Lanterns In Central Park
A truly special thing happens in Central Park every October–the Halloween Pumpkin Flotilla! This event is happening on October 30th this year from 4pm to 7pm. Families are encouraged to bring a carved pumpkin (which is another fun Halloween activity to do at your Glenwood apartment ahead of time), which will they set afloat near the Charles A. Dana Discovery Center in the park. Along with the magic of watching hundreds of pumpkins float across the Harlem Meer, kids will also be able to participate in a costume parade, spooky stories, and crafts. The event is free to attend, and is ideal for residents living on the Upper East Side, especially those at Hampton Court.

Dance The Monster Mash At the Museum of the City of New York
The Museum of the City of New York on the Upper East Side is having a wonderful family event that actually falls on Halloween, which is Tuesday, October 31st. Lasting from 2pm to 5pm, they will be hosting a haunted scavenger hunt, telling spooky stories, decorating pumpkins, and even throwing a Monster Mash Dance Party! The event is included with admission to the museum, and costumes are, of course, encouraged! We particularly love this event because it can be appropriate even if you have a range in your children’s ages–just as entertaining for 12 year olds as it is for 2 year olds!
Good Old Fashioned Trick-Or-Treating!
Midtown East is hosting their annual Trick-or-Treat with Midtown East on Halloween. Start at the tramway, where you can pick up candy bags and a map of all the 50+ participating businesses, then make your way through the neighborhood. Once you’ve collected all your goodies, kids can participate in face painting and photo booth fun! The event is completely free and lasts from 3pm to 7pm, which makes it easy to coordinate around naps and bedtimes!
