Fall Museum Guide
Today we’re bringing you the newest and most anticipated exhibitions coming to NYC this season, all located right in your Glenwood neighborhood! Such a great way to spend a NYC afternoon, while getting a high dose of culture. Who knows? Maybe even a little artistic inspiration may come from the visits, too!
Yayoi Kusama at David Zwirner Gallery
Kusama will be creating an exhibition with paintings, sculptures and a new famed Infinity Mirror Room at Zwirner Gallery on November 9th at 6pm. The address to the gallery is 537 W 20thSt. Be sure to catch this while it’s here!This will be closest for Glenwood’s downtown residents, but anyone who is a fan of Kusama’s work should definitely make the trip to see her new Infinity Mirror room.
MoMa PS1
From November 3rdthrough March 1st, the museum will host the “Theater of Operations: The Gulf Wars 1991-2011.” This exhibition will feature both Iraqi and Western artists work on The Gulf War 1991 and Iraq War 2003-2011. The museum is located at 22-25 Jackson Ave, Long Island City.
At The Met Breuer
Located on Madison Avenue at 75th Street, this museum is ideal for residents living on the Upper East Side, particularly residents at The Fairmont.
The Met Breuer is home to the exhibit “Phenomenal Nature: Mrinalini Mukherjee” through September 29th. If you are a fan of sculpture inspired by nature, be sure to check this out! There will also be a retrospective of Vija Celmin’s work beginning on September 24th. She will display 120 of her works that range from all different forms of media, with emphasis on photography, some works inspired by California’s pacific ocean.

Heading a bit more Uptown, you’ll find the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, which houses the “Hilma af Klint” exhibit this season. Situated on 5th Avenue and 89th Street, this is also a great Upper East Side jaunt. Residents living at The Cambridge and The Marlowe will love the beautiful art that is practically delivered to their doorsteps.
Some exhibitions definitely worth seeing are Basquiat’s “Defacement”: The Untold Story which will be on display through November 6thand The Loopehole of Retreat by Simone Leigh the winner of the Hugo Boss Prize 2018 on exhibition through October 27th.
At The Museum Of Modern Art
Midtown Manhattan is home to the Museum of Modern Art (aka MOMA), located on 53rd Street between 5th and 6th Avenues. What a great spot for Midtown Eastresidents to take in some art on their lunch breaks!
The MOMA has been closed for a few months while undergoing some work to expand galleries and rework collections, but it will reopen to the public on October 21st!

Museums entrance fees can add up, especially if you’re planning an outing with your entire family or group of friends. It’s good to know that the museums listed in this article all have special hours with free or discounted pricing.
At The MET Breuer, New York State residents as well as New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut students have the advantage of the amount you pay for entrance being up to you (so essentially, “pay what you wish”.) The Guggenheim has “pay what you wish” hours every Saturday from 5pm to 7:45pm, and the MOMA has “Free Friday Nights”, every Friday evening from 4pm to 8:00pm.
