Where to Have Thanksgiving Dinner in NYC

When living in NYC, Thanksgiving dinner is one of those classic American holidays that’s much easier in theory to prepare from scratch than in reality. Unlike friends in the suburbs, many New Yorkers don’t have the luxury of an easily accessible car for grocery shopping, a deep freezer in the garage for storing the turkey ahead of time, or enough chairs to host a large dinner party.

Thankfully, one thing New York does have plenty of on Thanksgiving day are restaurants which are open and serving classic holiday meals. We’ve rounded up a selection below, all located in Glenwood neighborhoods.

To Enjoy Live Music with a View: Robert

Nestled in the middle of Columbus Circle is the Museum of Arts and Design, and at the top of the museum is the world class restaurant, Robert.

Robert has, hands down, some of the best views of Central Park and upper-Manhattan from any restaurant in the area. Along with the stunning views, you’ll also be privy to something else special: live music. Musician Scott Gordon will be providing the backdrop to the modern pink and orange decorated space, while you feast on a three-course prix fixe menu. It’s $110 per plate, or $55 for children 12 and under. The menu hasn’t been announced yet, but considering the menu is Contemporary American, expect something to be crafted along those lines!

Robert is ideal for Glenwood residents living on Manhattan’s West Side, particularly in the buildings The Regent and The Encore, as it’s a convenient walk.

Thanksgiving Dinner with Wine Pairings: Burke & Wills

For Upper West Siders, the Aussie bistro Burke & Wills is offering a traditional three course menu for $60, or for $90 they will pair wines with your dishes. The vibe of Burke & Wills is best described as rugged and cozy: dim candle lighting, vintage pictures hanging from the walls, and comfort food dishes. Here are the menu highlights this season:

  • Pumpkin Soup for an appetizer
  • Whole Branzino with crispy shallots and lemon butter as a main
  • New York Cheesecake with a pumpkin glaze and topped with cranberry sauce for dessert

Located on 79th Street, Burke & Wills is ideal for Glenwood residents living on the Upper West Side, particularly those in the Grand Tier. Nothing like a post-Thanksgiving meal walk!

A Hudson Valley Inspired Thanksgiving: The Lambs Club

The Hudson Valley is renowned for its farm-to-table dishes, and this year you can enjoy the best of the area without leaving NYC. Located in a dazzling landmarked NYC building, The Lambs Club is hosting a Hudson Valley inspired meal, featuring produce from Prospect Hill Orchards and Migliorelli Farm. You’ll have a choice of an appetizer and entree, while sharing the sides and desserts family style. Standout dishes include:

  • Sunchoke Veloute in a Brown Butter Mascarpone for an appetizer
  • Amish Turkey with Honey Poached Cranberry and Roasted Parsnips as a main
  • Crispy Brussels Sprouts in a Caramelized Apple Butter as a side
  • Pumpkin Cannolis for dessert

A draw for this restaurant is the enormous 18th century fireplace, which adds to the warm ambiance of a Thanksgiving meal. Meals are $125, or $75 for children.

Located on 44th Street, The Lambs Club is easily accessible for Glenwood residents living in the Times Square area buildings, Emerald Green or The Sage.
