Paula Hayes’ Gorgeous Gazing Globes Brighten Madison Square Park

A new public art installation has arrived in Madison Square Park. Created by landscape designer and artist Paula Hayes, Gazing Globes is made up of eighteen crystalline orbs, each encasing a sort of science-fiction scene inside. Super fun, and super creative and our personal pick to be your first outdoor exhibit of the Spring.

The Final Performances of Shakespeare in the Parking Lot, Presenting Twelfth Night

For two decades now the Drilling Company theater group has been putting on one of NYC's great summer traditions, the brilliantly conceived Shakespeare In the Parking Lot. Staged in a fully functioning municipal lot on the Lower East Side (yes, cars come and go during the show, though fewer than you might think), these performances not only offer Shakespeare lovers a novel and welcome counterpoint to the celebrity-studded, "uptown fancy" Central Park shows, but they are usually pretty terrific in and of themselves.

Ice Skating and Gifts at Citi Pond in Bryant Park, NYC

It’s that time of year again! Are you looking to get in the holiday spirit? Need a fun idea for a date? Want something cheap and tiring to do with your kids during the upcoming Thanksgiving break? Well we’ve got the answer for you! One of our favorite seasonal NYC traditions is back and running stronger than ever; free ice skating at Citi Pond in Bryant Park! In addition to the ice skating rink, there are excellent snack options to choose from and the surrounding Holiday Shops offer quite a few unique gift-buying options too. The park and the ice rink can get choked with tourists and packs of teenagers, but we always have fun at Citi Pond when it opens in late October early November each year.
