Midoma Salon Moves to Emerald Green Territory

Midoma Salon showcases fashion and hair style artwork in their spacious clean white space

File under: One neighborhood's loss is another one's gain. When the much-loved hair salon/high-end boutique/art gallery Midoma Salon needed to up its Upper East Side roots this winter, its relocation to the Fashion District–more specifically, to Eighth Avenue between 38th and 37th Streets–may have surprised those who haven't been paying attention to that neighborhood's recent revitalization… a rejuvenation led in part, of course, by Glenwood's own LEED-certified luxury green apartment building, Emerald Green.

Anyway, the brand new Fashion District Midoma Salon is now officially open, and the new space looks terrific. Midoma is a somewhat unique commercial concept, offering clients an exceptional full-service hair salon (they can do anything well, but are particularly adept at angular cuts and creative coloring), AND a boutique spotlighting jewelry and clothing by up-and-coming designers, AND an art gallery featuring pieces by local artists. Taken together, Midoma Salon "creates an inspirational and artistic environment for both clients and employees," says owner Marianna Ranieri, "and promotes 'the Art of Beauty; the Beauty of Art.'?
