Hester Nights at Eventi Hotel; Don’t Miss This NYC Street Fair

New Yorkers walking on the street passed some of the Hester Nights vendors at the Eventi Hotel

It's the summertime dinner dream: good, simple food and drinks; lively, friendly atmosphere; comfortable outside seating somewhere NOT right on top of the street. Sounds good, right?

Well now, with the return of Hester Nights to the exceedingly pleasant Eventi Hotel plaza, it's done, done, and done. Here's how it works: a select group of food vendors from the Lower East Side's great Hester Street Fair head on up to Chelsea every Thursday from now through the end of September, setting up shop around the fountain at the Eventi. You go, you eat (a lot), you drink, you meet people, you can't help but relax.

Enjoy the Hester Street Fair Vendors

The Hester Nights "menu" of 10 to 15 vendors will change throughout the season, but when I went on opening night there was plenty of excellent eats from which to choose. For dinner, that meant fired-to-order pies from Ludlow Pizza, Luke's Lobster's signature lobster rolls, Oaxaca Tacos, Jessy's Pastries (for empanadas), brisket at Daisy Dukes BBQ, and Khao Man Ghai for Thai street snacks, among others. And for dessert? Dreamscoops ice cream, Cake Bites, and Jessy's Pastries (for alfajores…. in THREE varieties). There are lots of tables, there's music playing, there's a young, good-looking crowd. They even show outdoor movies every week at 9:00, and this year The Blue Note Jazz Festival are bringing live music to the plaza on June 6 (New Orleans style) and June 13 (Latin jazz).

And if none of the Hester Street Market food vendors strike your fancy (though that'd be weird), right inside the Eventi Hotel lobby there's the festive and airy "Brighton" food court, with a Go Burger, a Nonna Pizza counter, a Fish Shack, and a Tiki Bar. These, by way, are available every night, not just on Thursdays. For Glenwood residents of nearby Crystal Green and Emerald Green, Hester Nights are kind of a no-brainer at least once during the season, whether with your kids, your buddies, or for an easy date night. And with its crowd-pleasing food and free-flowing drinks, Hester Nights are also obviously a solid office-gathering option as well.
