Wafels And Dinges

Wafels and Dinges

Perhaps the most iconic NYC waffle belongs to that of Wafels and Dinges! The brand kicked off as a food cart, stationed in places such as Central Park or along the Westside’s Columbus Circle shops. The little yellow cart and the fabulous smells of sweet waffles wafting out drew so many waffle loving customers that they eventually opened a brick and mortar store Downtown in the East Village. The mission of the restaurant was to give America’s “Belgian waffles” a serious upgrade, and with flavors such as ‘de turtle wafel’, which is dulce de leche, belgian chocolate fudge and walnuts, it’s no wonder they’re such a staple in the city waffle scene! Other favorites among New Yorkers include ‘de double trouble’, known as ‘de cadillac’s of wafel-wiches, loaded with nutella, bananas, strawberries, spekuloos cookie crumble and whipped cream, as well as ‘de verdekke’, which is two freshly baked mini-wafelinis with a large scoop of spekuloos ice cream. Drooling yet?

Glenwood residents truly luck out when it comes to this place, because along with being in several locations of Central Park (excellent for Upper East Side residents and Westside residents), and the East Village, they also now have a cart in Bryant Park, which is perfect for those living or working in Midtown East!

(Fun New York City Fact: There’s a good chance you’ll recognize this adorable cafe–if so, it’s from the movie with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, ‘You Got Mail’. It’s how it first gained its popularity, and has been going strong since 1998! ) You can kick it off with a bang and try their Nutella-Licius, which is a homemade waffle smothered in Nutella. They’re also famous for their Authentic Belgian Waffle, which can be made regular, whole wheat, or even gluten-free. Top it your way with a variety of options, including: plain yogurt, frozen yogurt, whipped cream, cinnamon whipped cream, seasonal fruits, or strawberries. And of course it comes with a side of pure Vermont Maple Syrup and your choice of pecans, hazelnuts, or macadamias!
