Best Refreshing Summer Drinks in NYC

From a cup of strong cold brew to frothy glasses of margaritas, summer is the season to indulge in refreshing icy beverages. The New York City bar and restaurant scene has many standout places to score a delicious summer drink, and we’ve gathered our very favorites below for you.

Roof at the Park South Hotel

Located in the trendy NoMad neighborhood of Manhattan, the newly renovated Park South Hotel is an ideal spot to grab a refreshing beverage, complete with views for days. They have a rooftop cocktail bar, appropriately called Roof. Roof is famous for bartenders with a knack for the creative. You can choose one of their signature cocktails, or go with your own. If ordering from the menu, we would recommend the Strawberry Daiquiri, which puts a new spin on the icy classic, by mixing Plantation 5 year Barbados Rum, fresh strawberries, lemon, and the kicker…Tabasco! They also do a fantastic beverage dubbed the Miami Vice, which is a mix of the Strawberry Daiquiri and Pina Colada, for those times when you can’t make up your mind between two summertime staples. Or, if you’d prefer something on the rocks, go with the Bee Sting, which is a firm mix of Black Pepper Infused Gin, honey, and lemon. As its name suggests, it’s a cocktail with quite a kick, but surprisingly smooth and refreshing to consume.

Loopy Doopy at the Conrad Hotel

Located in Battery City Park, the gorgeous luxury Conrad Hotel has certainly made a splash with their summertime drink scene. The 16th floor Loopy Doopy Bar offers impressive views of Lady Liberty and the New York Harbor, which you’ll savor over a refreshing cocktail or three. While they have a full menu of cocktail staples, the draw here is their Prosecco & Ice Pop cocktail, which is a fruity People’s Pop ice pop topped with chilled Prosecco or Rose from their very own tap. Popular flavors include Blueberry Peach, Strawberry Lemongrass, and (dare we say New Yorkers’ favorite?) Empire Apple. They will certainly put you in an Empire State of Mind as you take in the summer sunset.

Your Own Sundeck

Glenwood has three luxury residential buildings downtown, located nearby to the Conrad Hotel. If you’re in the market for a beautiful new home filled with amenities, consider checking out nearby Liberty Plaza. It’s equipped with its very own roof sundeck, which would allow you to host your own summertime soiree, complete with refreshing summer drinks. We love the idea of having a signature beverage on option for when guests arrive, along with basics such as a collection of craft beers and cracking cold Sancerre. For signature beverage inspiration, we tapped into NYC’s own foodie blogger and cookbook author, Smitten Kitten, who is famous for throwing a soiree like no other! Her Pomegranate Grapefruit Paloma is incredible, and sure to impress. It mixes part tequila and part grapefruit-flavored soda (such as Fresca, Squirt, or Jarritos), on the rocks with a lime wedge and salty rim. Fizzy, tart, and sweet–perfect for summertime entertaining, and a signature beverage your guests will be talking about all season long.

For an alcohol free refreshing mocktail, consider trying her Watermelon Lemonade, which is simply lemon juice, watermelon puree, and sparkling water. Refreshing and delicious! Just add a tiny umbrella and you’ll be dubbed hostess with the mostess in no time.
